Sarah began her career in education with Teach for America in Atlanta, GA after graduating from Kenyon College where she majored in English and creative writing. Sarah then fell in love with boarding schools while teaching at Asheville School in Asheville, NC before going on to earn her master's degree at the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University. Prior to joining TAIS, Sarah served as the Upper School Director and then the Director for Laurel's Center for Research on Girls at Laurel School in Shaker Heights, OH. Sarah is particularly interested in how schools can leverage the strengths of their missions, teachers, and students to meet their strategic goals and to create beneficial networks and partnerships. Sarah works with leadership teams and faculties at independent schools on change management around leadership roles and structures, program development, and curricular revision. In working with students, Sarah focuses on authentic student voice and leadership, student mentorship, the power of students' sense of purpose in education, and skills-based approaches to equity and inclusion and civil discourse. She has presented on these topics at a range of venues, including the POCC conference and TAIS member school faculty in-services. Sarah also serves on both the Nonpublic Schools Advisory Council and the Committee of Practitioners for the Tennessee Department of Education where she represents TAIS member schools and works to improve collaboration and communication between independent and public schools as well as forward equity and access for all students in Tennessee. Sarah lives in Memphis with her husband and their three children.

Kristina comes to TAIS as an experienced educational leader with over 25 years of experience in a variety of instructional and administrative capacities. Kristina earned her BA in History at Occidental College and her MA in Education at Pepperdine University. Prior to joining TAIS, Kristina was an Upper School Assistant Principal at La Cañada High, a top performing high school in CA. Kristina also worked at TAIS member school BGA, CAIS member schools Flintridge Preparatory School and Milken Community High School, collectively at which she held a myriad of other positions, including Head of Middle School, Dean of Athletics, Social Science Department Chair, Grade Level Dean, and Mentor Teacher. Kristina is a servant leader who gave her time to her community by serving as a Trustee of an Independent School as well as sitting on various community committees and other boards. Kristina is deeply committed to the following tenets of being an effective leader and strives to pass them on to others: servant leadership, a growth mindset paired with a climate of care, a commitment to best practices, empowerment of others, and effective communication. Kristina lives in Franklin with her husband, their son and their three Norrbottenspets, but their home has plenty of room for their adult daughter to come and visit. |
