Safety and Insurance Mini-Workshop

July 24, 2023
9:30 am to 12:30 pm Central
Father Ryan School, Nashville

Target Audience: Heads of School, Associate Heads, and the Directors of the following departments: Business, Facilities, and Safety/Security.

In this complimentary dynamic workshop, we will begin the conversation on a range of essential topics to equip you with the knowledge and tools needed to safeguard your school.  We will review the crucial aspects of critical response, and consider how schools can implement comprehensive emergency preparedness protocols.  Participants will gain practical solutions in this workshop.

Part One presented by Robins Insurance: One of the key aspects we'll cover is the importance of insurance coverage in mitigating risks. We'll demystify complex terms like General Liability, Active Shooter Coverage, Law Enforcement Liability, and Firearms Legal Liability, helping you understand how these coverage forms respond in real-life scenarios. By gaining a clear understanding of insurance mechanisms, you'll be better equipped to protect your institution and handle potential incidents. Additionally, we will explore Workers' Compensation and its benefits for your staff. Understanding this crucial aspect ensures that your employees are well taken care of in the event of an unfortunate incident. By prioritizing their well-being, you foster a supportive work environment that promotes the overall safety and security of your school community.

Part Two presented by Defend Systems "The Violence Epidemic: Empowering the Educator": we will tackle the pressing issue of safety and security in independent K-12 schools.  In recent years, numerous acts of violence have rocked educational institutions worldwide, leaving us with a critical responsibility to protect our children. Furthermore, we'll shed light on the critical indicators that precede an attack, enabling you to identify and address them early on. By embracing the lessons learned from past tragedies, we can proactively create safer environments for our students and faculty. The workshop will also emphasize actions that increase survivability in the face of a violent event. From training your staff to react swiftly and effectively to implementing measures that enhance individual safety, you'll learn invaluable best practices to minimize harm and maximize the chances of survival.
