Bill Chaney  (2016)

In 1980 Bill Chaney was named the administrator of Madison Christian School, which taught students in grades 1-4.  Over the next 36 years, he led the school on a remarkable journey as it changed its name to Davidson Academy, built a new campus facility, and grew to become one of the premier PreK-12 independent Christian schools in Middle Tennessee.  Graduating its first class of seniors in 1989, the school continuously improved and expanded its academic, religious and athletic programs under his leadership, most recently launching a one-to-one iPad program for grades 4-12.

In addition to his work at Davidson Academy, Bill has made significant contributions to the broader education community.  He served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools as liaison to TSSAA, and was active in SACS before becoming a member of AdvancED's founding Board of Directors.  He also helped to organize the Middle Tennessee Fellowship of Christian School Administrators.

Bill Chaney's dedication to education, his passion for Christian values, and his leadership have benefitted not only his own school, but public and private schools throughout the Southeast.  Like Sawney Web himself, he is an exemplary "good school man."
