Serving as a School Liaison

Requirements

  • Be a teacher or administrator from a TAIS member school in good standing
  • Possess good communication and organization skills
  • Be willing to give their time and expertise to further the work of TAIS
  • Have a genuine interest in professional development  and teacher renewal, and be able to represent their school community
  • Be respected by their colleagues and have an open line of communication with them
  • Serve a term of two (2) years

Responsibilities

  • Keep school faculty updated on TAIS professional development programs and encourage attendance by making announcements at faculty meetings, receiving/responding to emails promptly
  • Report concerns and professional development needs of their school faculty to the Teacher Services Committee
  • Assist TAIS staff as needed when their school hosts a seminar or workshop
  • Identify and recruit TAIS master teachers to present at regional Forums, the Innovation & Technology Institute, or the Biennial Conference
  • Identify and report to the TSC outstanding professional development speakers and programs to be used at the Biennial Conference or Workshops, and/or to be listed on the new “Teacher Resources” page on the TAIS website
  • Attend the Biennial Conference when it is held in their region of the state and support the Conference in other ways as needed. 
  • Attend the biennial regional Liaison Retreats
  • Liaisons’ schools are financially responsible for transportation to and from conferences

Nominating Process

The Head of school makes the nomination for school Liaisons, typically one for each division.
