New Executive Director, Sarah Wilson

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am excited and honored to announce the appointment of Ms. Sarah Wilson as the next Executive Director of TAIS.  Sarah will succeed Rich Martin who will retire in June following eleven years of distinguished service to TAIS. Sarah currently serves as the Director of The Center for Research on Girls at the Laurel School of Shaker Heights, Ohio.  She previously held the positions of Upper School Head and Upper School Dean at Laurel as well as serving as an instructor of English.  Prior to joining the faculty at Laurel in 2012, Sarah taught English and Humanities at Asheville School (2002-2010).  She began her teaching career at Usher Middle School in Atlanta through Teach for America (2000-2002).  Sarah is a graduate of Kenyon College (BA in English) and Columbia University’s Teachers College (M.Ed.).

The selection process was enormously gratifying for those of us involved with this search, and our talented candidate pool yielded many compelling applicants.  Still, Sarah Wilson rose to the top at every stage as we moved forward.  The combination of her talents, experience, and passion for the mission of our association makes her a perfect fit for TAIS at this juncture in our organizational journey.  Sarah Wilson has been described as a positive, strategic, and transformational leader who emphasizes collaboration and leveraging the strengths of those with whom she works.  Sarah will begin her work with TAIS in July 2019.

I want to thank O.J. Morgan, the members of our committee, and Jamie Estes of Southern Teachers Agency who helped us successfully navigate this search.  Thank you, in advance, for helping us welcome Sarah and her family to Nashville, our state, and to TAIS.
