Children's Literature Symposium: Award-winning Children's & Middle Grades Authors Sharing Lessons about Their Books and Writing Itself

April 26, 2023
2:30-4:00pm CDT / 3:30-5:00pm EDT

Hosted by Dr. Jennifer Zwillenberg

This event provides an opportunity for educators to engage in three breakout sessions with highly acclaimed children's and middle grades authors. In addition, participants will receive 25 different brief video lessons on writing created by the authors designed to be shared with students. Lastly, a teacher's guide (PDF) that includes a summary of the authors, their videos, and 75 different lesson suggestions will be given to participating educators. Language Arts teachers (k-8) will walk away thrilled with all the lessons on writing they receive, and general enthusiasts of children's literature will gain insight into the newest works being published in the field.

Diversity Statement: Dr. Jennifer Zwillenberg is committed to sharing high quality literature with educators and focuses on supporting authors who write own voices stories from various cultural, racial, linguistic, and gender identities as well as promoting anti-racist pedagogy broadly.

Target Audience: Language Arts, K-8 teachers, Lower and Middle School Division Directors, and Librarians looking for high-quality resources for teaching writing and educators who are interested in children's literature.
